Key Responsibilities:

• Surface Preparation: Clean, sand, and prepare surfaces by removing old paint, repairing drywall, and filling holes or cracks.
• Mixing and Applying Paint: Select and mix paints, stains, and finishes to achieve the desired color and consistency; apply paint using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
• Quality Control: Inspect surfaces to ensure a smooth and even application, making necessary adjustments or touch-ups as needed.
• Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper ventilation practices.
• Project Management: Estimate project timelines and materials needed, manage time effectively to meet deadlines, and communicate progress to clients or supervisors.
• Cleanup and Maintenance: Clean tools and equipment after use, dispose of hazardous materials properly, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Tasks

• Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered
• Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel
• Prepare rough plans and sketches
• Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to base
• Align and straighten tiles
• Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools
• Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout
• Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles
• Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs
• Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires and brackets
• Cut, surface, polish and install marble and granite
• Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces
• Install tile strips

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in painting or a related field is a plus.
• Experience: Previous experience as a painter or in a related trade is preferred.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail; good hand-eye coordination; ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in various positions, including climbing ladders.

Working Conditions: Painters typically work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and working at heights. The role can be physically demanding and may require working irregular hours to accommodate project schedules.
