Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the activities of food service staff, including scheduling shifts, assigning tasks, and providing training and guidance to ensure efficient operation.
- Food Preparation and Service: Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality. Assist with food preparation during peak times and oversee food service stations.
- Customer Service Excellence: Ensure exceptional customer service by greeting customers, addressing inquiries or complaints, and resolving issues promptly and courteously. Foster a customer-focused culture among staff.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of food, supplies, and ingredients. Place orders for replenishment as needed and ensure proper storage and rotation of perishable items.
- Safety and Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations. Monitor food handling practices and kitchen cleanliness to prevent foodborne illnesses and ensure a safe working environment.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor sales and expenses to ensure profitability and cost-control measures. Manage cash handling procedures, including reconciling daily sales and preparing deposits.
- Training and Development: Train new employees on food preparation techniques, customer service standards, and safety procedures. Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to staff members.
Tasks

- Supervise and co-ordinate activities of staff who prepare and portion food
- Train staff in job duties, sanitation and safety procedures
- Estimate ingredient and supplies required for meal preparation
- Ensure that food and service meet quality control standards
- Prepare budget and cost estimates
- Address customers’ complaints or concerns
- Maintain records of stock, repairs, sales and wastage
- Prepare and submit reports
- Prepare food order summaries for chef
- Supervise and check assembly of trays
- Supervise and check delivery of food trolleys
- Establish work schedules
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a food service supervisory role, preferably in a restaurant, cafeteria, or similar setting.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle customer complaints and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Basic computer skills for inventory management and reporting purposes.
