Key Responsibilities:
- Transportation Planning and Coordination:
- Develop and implement transportation strategies to meet organizational goals and customer requirements.
- Plan and coordinate the movement of goods and personnel, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
- Optimize transportation routes and methods to minimize costs and improve service levels.
- Fleet Management:
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and management of the organization’s fleet of vehicles.
- Ensure vehicles are compliant with safety regulations, inspected regularly, and in good working condition.
- Manage vehicle procurement, leasing, and disposal as needed.
- Team Management:
- Supervise and lead a team of transportation staff, including drivers, dispatchers, and logistics coordinators.
- Conduct hiring, training, and performance evaluations for transportation team members.
- Foster a positive work environment and ensure team adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations and laws.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of transportation industry regulations and implement necessary changes to policies and procedures.
- Prepare and manage documentation related to transportation activities, including permits, licenses, and inspection reports.
- Cost Management:
- Develop and manage the transportation budget, including tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Negotiate contracts with transportation providers and vendors to ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Monitor and analyze transportation costs and performance metrics to drive improvements.
- Customer Service and Communication:
- Interface with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders to address transportation-related inquiries and issues.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering on time and meeting service level expectations.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams to coordinate transportation needs and resolve any problems.
- Technology and Systems:
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and other technology to enhance transportation operations and reporting.
- Stay updated on technological advancements in transportation and logistics to implement best practices and innovations.
- Oversee the integration of new technologies or systems into existing operations.
- Safety and Risk Management:
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for all transportation staff.
- Manage risk by conducting regular safety audits and addressing potential hazards.
- Handle incident investigations and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Tasks
- Arrange for shipping documentation and the tracking and tracing of goods in transit

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- years of experience in transportation management or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Proven experience in fleet management, logistics planning, and cost management.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in transportation management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in transportation or logistics (e.g., Certified Transportation Professional, Certified Supply Chain Professional).
- Experience with international transportation and global logistics.
- Familiarity with advanced technologies such as GPS tracking, route optimization software, and automated systems.
Work Conditions:
- The role may involve occasional travel to various locations, including distribution centers or vendor facilities.
- Work is typically performed in an office environment with occasional visits to transportation sites or facilities.
