Key Responsibilities:

  1. Daily Farm Operations:
    • Supervise and coordinate daily farm activities, including planting, harvesting, and animal care.
    • Monitor and manage farm equipment and machinery to ensure proper functioning.
    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm infrastructure, including buildings, fences, and irrigation systems.
  2. Staff Management:
    • Supervise, train, and evaluate farm workers and seasonal staff.
    • Create and manage work schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all tasks.
    • Ensure that staff adhere to farm policies and safety procedures.
  3. Crop and Livestock Management:
    • Implement and monitor crop cultivation practices, including planting, fertilizing, and pest control.
    • Manage livestock care, including feeding, health checks, and breeding programs.
    • Track and record crop yields and livestock production data.
  4. Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety training and enforce safe work practices.
    • Maintain records of compliance, safety inspections, and certifications.
  5. Inventory and Resource Management:
    • Manage inventory of seeds, feed, fertilizers, and other supplies.
    • Order and restock supplies as needed and manage farm budget and expenses.
    • Implement efficient resource management practices to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  6. Farm Development and Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for farm improvement and implement new techniques or technologies.
    • Plan and oversee projects related to farm infrastructure, equipment upgrades, or expansion.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements to enhance farm productivity.
  7. Communication and Reporting:
    • Communicate effectively with the Farm Manager and other stakeholders regarding farm performance and issues.
    • Prepare and submit reports on farm activities, productivity, and financial performance.
    • Address and resolve any issues or concerns raised by staff or management.

Tasks

  • Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers
  • Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed
  • Maintain quality control and production records
  • Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations
  • Maintain work records and logs
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
  • Perform general farm duties

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of [insert number] years of experience in farm management or a related role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
    • Knowledge of agricultural practices, crop production, and livestock management.
