Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Crop Maintenance: Assisting with planting, watering, weeding, fertilizing, and harvesting crops. This may include the use of hand tools or machinery, depending on the farm’s size and equipment.
- Animal Care: Feeding, cleaning, and tending to livestock, such as cattle, sheep, chickens, pigs, or other farm animals. Ensuring animals have adequate food, water, and shelter.
- Farm Equipment Operation: Operating farm machinery like tractors, plows, seeders, and harvesters to assist with tasks like plowing fields, planting seeds, or transporting crops.
- Field Preparation: Helping prepare fields for planting by tilling soil, removing debris, or setting up irrigation systems.
- Maintenance of Farm Buildings: Repairing fences, barns, or other structures on the farm as needed to ensure they remain safe and functional.
- Transportation of Materials: Moving feed, water, and other supplies to various parts of the farm, often requiring the use of trucks or other vehicles.
- Harvesting: Picking or gathering crops, sorting them, and preparing them for transportation or sale.
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintaining cleanliness in barns, stables, and other work areas to ensure animal health and farm safety.
- Weed and Pest Control: Applying pesticides or herbicides, or manually removing weeds, to protect crops and livestock from pests and diseases.
- Assisting with Farm Projects: Working with supervisors or farmers on special projects, such as expanding fields, planting new crops, or maintaining irrigation systems.
