The Grounds Maintenance Labourer is responsible for performing various tasks related to the upkeep and enhancement of outdoor spaces. This role involves manual labor, operating machinery, and working as part of a team to ensure that grounds are maintained to a high standard.

 Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lawn and Garden Care:
    • Mow, edge, and trim lawns.
    • Plant, prune, and weed garden beds and borders.
    • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as required.
    • Water plants and lawns manually or using irrigation systems.
  2. Grounds Upkeep:
    • Clear debris and litter from outdoor areas.
    • Maintain and repair fences, gates, and paths.
    • Assist in the installation and maintenance of outdoor furniture and fixtures.
  3. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
    • Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, blowers, and trimmers.
    • Ensure tools and machinery are in good working order and report any malfunctions.
  4. Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to health and safety regulations and protocols.
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines.
    • Report hazards or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
  5. Team Collaboration:
    • Work effectively with other team members and supervisors.
    • Assist in the training of new staff as required.
  6. Seasonal Duties:
    • Perform snow removal and ice management in winter months.
    • Assist with seasonal planting and maintenance activities.
  7. Administrative Tasks:
    • Maintain records of maintenance activities and equipment usage.
    • Provide input on improvements and suggestions for grounds upkeep.

Qualifications:

    • Basic knowledge of horticulture and landscaping.
    • Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor.
    • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Certifications: Valid driver’s license may be required. Certification in grounds maintenance or horticulture is a plus.
