Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist carpenters with the layout and construction of structures, including walls, roofs, and cabinets.
- Measure and cut materials accurately using hand and power tools.
- Carry and distribute materials to job sites, ensuring the work area is organized and safe.
- Assist in installing fixtures such as windows, doors, and trim.
- Help with the maintenance and repair of existing structures.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
- Clean up job sites, removing debris and ensuring tools are stored properly.
- Attend training sessions to learn new skills and techniques related to carpentry.
- Communicate effectively with carpenters and other construction staff.
Tasks
- Load, unload and transport construction materials
- Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs
- Clean and pile salvaged materials
- Perform routine maintenance work
- Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants
- Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
- Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous experience in construction or a related field is a plus but not required.
- Basic understanding of carpentry tools and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings is advantageous.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from skilled carpenters.
Working Conditions:
- Work is typically performed on construction sites, which may expose the helper to various weather conditions.
- The role may require standing, bending, lifting, and performing physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, and safety glasses will be provided and must be worn.
