Key Responsibilities:

• Assist carpenters with the layout and construction of structures, including walls, roofs, and cabinets.
• Measure and cut materials accurately using hand and power tools.
• Carry and distribute materials to job sites, ensuring the work area is organized and safe.
• Assist in installing fixtures such as windows, doors, and trim.
• Help with the maintenance and repair of existing structures.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
• Clean up job sites, removing debris and ensuring tools are stored properly.
• Attend training sessions to learn new skills and techniques related to carpentry.
• Communicate effectively with carpenters and other construction staff.

Tasks

• Load, unload and transport construction materials
• Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs
• Clean and pile salvaged materials
• Perform routine maintenance work
• Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants
• Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
• Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous experience in construction or a related field is a plus but not required.
• Basic understanding of carpentry tools and techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings is advantageous.
• Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials.
• Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from skilled carpenters.

Working Conditions:

• Work is typically performed on construction sites, which may expose the helper to various weather conditions.
• The role may require standing, bending, lifting, and performing physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
