Key Responsibilities:

  • Child Supervision:
    • Provide constant supervision and care to children, ensuring their safety at all times.
    • Monitor children’s behavior and address any concerns promptly and effectively.
    • Ensure that children are engaging in appropriate activities and maintaining a healthy routine.
  • Daily Routines and Activities:
    • Prepare meals, snacks, and bottles for children according to dietary needs or preferences.
    • Assist with feeding, bathing, dressing, and toileting as required.
    • Help children with daily tasks such as getting ready for school, making their beds, or completing homework.
    • Plan and engage in educational, creative, and recreational activities that are age-appropriate (e.g., arts and crafts, reading, outdoor play).
    • Encourage positive behaviors and social development through play, guidance, and discipline as per parents’ instructions.
  • Health and Well-being:
    • Monitor the health and well-being of the children, including taking their temperature when ill, administering prescribed medications, and keeping a record of any health issues.
    • Assist with basic first aid when necessary, and promptly alert parents or emergency services if required.
    • Ensure the children maintain good hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Household Assistance:
    • Perform light housekeeping duties related to child care, including tidying up children’s rooms, doing their laundry, and keeping play areas organized.
    • Assist with cleaning up after meals and ensuring children’s belongings are well-organized.
  • Communication with Parents:
    • Keep parents informed about their child’s activities, behavior, and any concerns that may arise during the day.
    • Follow parents’ guidelines and instructions regarding daily routines, discipline, and childcare preferences.
    • Update parents on any health issues, milestones, or special needs of the children.
  • Transportation (if required):
    • Transport children to and from school, extracurricular activities, or playdates, as necessary.
    • Ensure children’s safety during transportation and follow all road safety regulations.

Tasks

  • Follow parents’ lead with toilet training
  • Assume full responsibility for household in absence of parents
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
  • Bathe, dress and feed infants and children
  • Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents
  • Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Organize, activities such as games and outings for children
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals
  • Prepare infants and children for rest periods
  • Supervise and care for children
  • Take children to and from school and to appointments
  • Tend to emotional well-being of children
  • Help children with homework

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in early childhood education or a related field is a plus.
    • Previous experience in childcare, babysitting, or nanny work is highly preferred.
    • CPR and First Aid certification is desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children and parents.
    • Patience, empathy, and the ability to handle children’s needs and behaviors in a calm and supportive manner.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
    • Creative thinking and the ability to engage children in age-appropriate activities.
    • Knowledge of child development and safety standards.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and playing with children.
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and engage in active play for extended periods.
    • Capability to respond quickly in case of emergencies.

Work Environment:

  • The child caregiver will typically work in a private home, providing care in the child’s usual living environment.
  • The position may require flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or occasional overnight shifts, depending on the family’s needs.
