Key Responsibilities:

• General Labor Tasks:
  • Assist in the construction and renovation of buildings, structures, and other facilities.
  • Perform physical tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and moving materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Help with the setup and dismantling of scaffolding, ladders, and other temporary structures.
• Assisting Skilled Trades:
  • Work alongside carpenters, masons, electricians, and plumbers, providing support as needed during various construction activities.
  • Follow instructions from foremen and skilled tradespeople to ensure tasks are completed correctly and safely.
• Material Handling:
  • Load and unload construction materials and supplies, ensuring they are stored properly.
  • Assist in tracking inventory and reporting any shortages to supervisors.
  • Prepare and organize materials for specific tasks and ensure the work area is stocked with necessary supplies.
• Site Maintenance:
  • Keep the job site clean and safe by removing debris, trash, and hazardous materials.
  • Assist in maintaining tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly stored.
  • Report any safety hazards or issues to supervisors immediately.
• Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Help enforce safety rules and practices among team members on the job site.

Tasks

• Load, unload and transport construction materials
• Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades
• Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs
• Clean and pile salvaged materials
• Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants
• Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
• Direct traffic at or near construction sites
• Perform other labouring and elemental activities
• Assist skilled tradespersons

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in construction or a related field is a plus but not always required.
• Skills:
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and materials is beneficial.
  • Good physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor tasks.
• Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds or more) and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
  • Capability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
