Primary Responsibilities:
- Site Preparation:
- Clear construction sites of debris, waste, and hazardous materials.
- Assist in the setting up of scaffolding, temporary structures, and other essential site components.
- Prepare and level the ground or excavation areas for construction work.
- Material Handling:
- Transport and move materials (e.g., cement, bricks, tools, and equipment) to and from work areas.
- Load and unload construction materials from trucks, cranes, or other machinery.
- Stack materials and organize them for easy access during construction.
- Assisting Skilled Workers:
- Assist carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and other tradespeople by handing them tools, supplies, or materials.
- Hold materials or structures in place during installation or construction processes.
- Assist in mixing and preparing materials such as concrete, mortar, or cement.
- Tool and Equipment Operation:
- Operate basic construction equipment and tools, such as drills, hammers, wheelbarrows, or power washers.
- Maintain and clean tools and equipment to ensure they are in working condition.
- Follow instructions on the proper use of tools and machinery to prevent accidents.
- Demolition and Excavation:
- Assist in demolishing structures and clearing debris from construction or renovation sites.
- Dig trenches or holes for foundations, drainage, and other construction needs.
- Remove or break down old or unsafe structures.
- Site Maintenance and Cleanliness:
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by organizing materials and removing hazardous debris.
- Ensure that the construction site is safe and complies with all safety standards and regulations.
- Sweep or remove debris from floors, walls, and other work areas.
- Safety Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, steel-toed boots, and safety goggles.
- Report any unsafe working conditions or accidents to the site supervisor.
- Help set up and monitor barricades, signs, or cones to ensure safety.
- Assisting with Formwork and Concrete Work:
- Help pour, level, and smooth concrete or asphalt.
- Set up and remove temporary forms for poured concrete structures such as foundations, floors, and columns.
- General Maintenance:
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as repairing fences, gates, or access routes on construction sites.
- Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of construction equipment and machinery.
