Key Responsibilities:
- Field Maintenance:
- Assist in planting, cultivating, and maintaining fruit crops.
- Remove weeds, pests, and debris to ensure healthy crop growth.
- Irrigation and Fertilization:
- Help with irrigation tasks, including setting up and maintaining irrigation systems.
- Assist in applying fertilizers and pesticides according to safety protocols.
- Harvesting:
- Hand-pick fruits at the appropriate ripeness, ensuring minimal damage to the crops.
- Sort, pack, and prepare harvested fruits for distribution or sale.
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate farm machinery and tools safely, including tractors, sprayers, and harvesters.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report any issues to supervisors.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect fruits for quality and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Report any concerns related to crop health or product quality to the supervisor.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including planting dates, harvest yields, and inventory levels.
- Assist with data entry related to crop management and sales.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other farm workers and supervisors to ensure efficient operations.
- Participate in training sessions and follow instructions from experienced staff.
Tasks
- Apply the technique of hoeing between the row
- Clean the crops
- Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens and other work areas
- Cut agricultural crops
- Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable lots and non-marketable lots
- Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to the size, shape, colour and volume to fetch high price in market.
- Guide growing shoots into optimal development positions
- Hand harvesting vegetables
- Maintain and manage growth of vines, vine canopy and grapes
- Pack fruits and vegetables
- Pick row and orchard crops
- Plant, cultivate and irrigate crops
- Remove manually all suckers and water sprouts
- Shear and shape trees and plants with knife
- Sort fruits and vegetables
- Tie and secure plants
- Weeding
- Harvest crops
- Load, unload and transfer crates, supplies and farm produce, livestock and poultry
