Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation:
- Assist in preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, cutting, and chopping vegetables and fruits.
- Measure and mix ingredients as directed by chefs or cooks.
- Prepare basic food items, such as salads, sandwiches, and appetizers.
- Kitchen Maintenance:
- Keep the kitchen area clean and organized by washing dishes, pots, and pans, and maintaining clean countertops and workstations.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances regularly.
- Dispose of kitchen waste properly and maintain garbage bins.
- Support Cooking Staff:
- Assist chefs and cooks during meal preparation by fetching ingredients, tools, and equipment as needed.
- Help with plating and garnishing dishes for presentation.
- Follow instructions from kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food service.
- Inventory Management:
- Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, ensuring proper stock levels.
- Help monitor inventory levels and report shortages to the supervisor.
- Label and date stored food items to ensure freshness and compliance with food safety standards.
- Adherence to Safety and Sanitation:
- Follow health and safety regulations and guidelines for food handling and kitchen operations.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and maintain a clean working environment.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
Tasks
- Bring clean dishes, flatware and other items to serving areas and set tables
- Clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats, carts and waste disposal units
- Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs
- Load buspans and trays
- Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware
- Place dishes in storage area
- Replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas
- Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand
- Scour pots and pans
- Portion and wrap foods
- Prepare, heat and finish simple food items
- Stock refrigerators and salad bars
- Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs
- Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment
- Handle and store cleaning products
- Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
- Remove kitchen garbage and trash
- Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
- Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit

Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; previous kitchen experience is a plus but not required.
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Skills:

- Good time management skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
