Key Responsibilities

  • Child Care: Supervise and care for children in the absence of parents, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Daily Activities: Plan and engage in age-appropriate activities, including educational games, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and reading.
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare nutritious meals and snacks, accommodating dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Personal Care: Assist with personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, and toileting; promote good hygiene habits.
  • Transportation: Safely transport children to and from school, activities, playdates, or appointments as required.
  • Household Duties: Perform light housekeeping duties related to child care, such as cleaning up after meals, laundry, and organizing play areas.
  • Behavior Management: Implement positive behavior management techniques to encourage good behavior and social skills among children.
  • Communication: Maintain open communication with parents regarding children’s progress, behavior, and any concerns; provide regular updates on daily activities.

Tasks

  • Bathe, dress and feed infants and children
  • Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents
  • Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development
  • Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding children
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Organize, activities such as games and outings for children
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals
  • Prepare infants and children for rest periods
  • Supervise and care for children
  • Take children to and from school and to appointments
  • Tend to emotional well-being of children

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; further education in child development or early childhood education is a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a nanny, babysitter, or in child care settings is preferred; references may be required.
  • Certifications: Certification in CPR and first aid is advantageous.

  • Child Development Knowledge: Understanding of child development principles to foster a nurturing and educational environment.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with children and parents.
