Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport Goods: Safely drive trucks to deliver goods to customers and distribution centers.
- Route Planning: Plan and follow efficient routes to minimize delays and optimize fuel consumption.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and perform routine maintenance to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
- Compliance: Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation laws and regulations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of hours driven, mileage, and deliveries using electronic logging devices (ELDs) or paper logs.
- Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients and provide excellent service during deliveries.
- Load and Unload: Assist with loading and unloading cargo as needed, ensuring proper handling and securing of goods
Tasks
- Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
- Drive lighter, special purpose trucks
- Load and unload goods
- Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Pay and receive payments for goods
- Perform brake adjustments
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Transport and handle dangerous goods
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous truck driving experience preferred; knowledge of routes and geographical areas is a plus.
- Licenses: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Skills: Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy loads and handle physically demanding tasks.
- Safety Focus: Commitment to following safety protocols and regulations.
Work Conditions:
- Long hours, including nights and weekends, may be required.
- Travel may involve extended periods away from home.
