We are seeking an experienced and dependable Long-Haul Truck Driver to transport goods across long distances, often covering multiple states or regions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating large trucks and ensuring that goods are delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with all transportation regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate tractor-trailers and other large commercial vehicles for long-distance shipments.
  • Transport goods to various locations across states, regions, or even nationwide.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of cargo while adhering to delivery schedules.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Plan routes and check road conditions to ensure the most efficient and safe path is taken.
  • Follow all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations while driving.
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel use, and other required data (e.g., logs for hours worked).
  • Communicate with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and customers regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
  • Ensure cargo is secured properly and safely during transport to avoid damage.
  • Manage fuel consumption and optimize efficiency while on the road.
  • Handle paperwork related to shipments, including delivery receipts, bills of lading, and inspection reports.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as checking tire pressure, oil levels, and brakes.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies or breakdowns and follow safety protocols.

Tasks

  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
  • Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and clean driving record.
  • Proven experience as a long-haul truck driver or in a similar transportation role.
  • Strong knowledge of trucking regulations, safety protocols, and road laws.
  • Ability to drive long hours and remain focused, especially during long overnight or multi-day trips.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance skills and the ability to troubleshoot common issues on the road.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Physically fit and able to handle long hours of sitting, lifting, and securing cargo.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with specific types of cargo (e.g., hazardous materials, refrigerated goods, oversized loads).
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS systems.
  • HazMat endorsement or other specialized certifications, depending on the type of cargo.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to drive for extended periods, often up to 10-12 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects when loading and unloading goods.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and remain alert on long journeys.
  • Ability to sit for long periods and manage the physical demands of driving.
