Key Responsibilities:

  1. Childcare:
    • Provide attentive and loving care for children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
    • Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities, including playtime, educational exercises, and outings.
    • Assist with daily routines such as feeding, dressing, bathing, and bedtime.
  2. Educational and Recreational Activities:
    • Plan and implement activities that promote the physical, emotional, and intellectual development of the children.
    • Encourage positive behavior and social skills through interactive play, storytelling, and educational games.
    • Support homework completion and educational tasks as needed, fostering a love for learning.
  3. Household Tasks:
    • Perform light household duties related to the children, such as preparing meals and snacks, doing laundry, and tidying play areas.
    • Maintain a clean and organized environment for the children, including the children’s rooms and play areas.
    • Run errands or perform additional tasks related to the children’s needs, such as grocery shopping or scheduling appointments.
  4. Health and Safety:
    • Monitor and address any health or safety concerns, including administering medication as directed by the parents.
    • Ensure that the children adhere to safety guidelines during indoor and outdoor activities.
    • Maintain first aid and CPR certification, and respond appropriately to any medical emergencies.
  5. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with parents about the children’s daily activities, behavior, and any concerns that arise.
    • Collaborate with parents to develop and implement routines, discipline strategies, and family rules.
    • Respect and adhere to the family’s privacy, preferences, and household rules.
  6. Behavior Management:
    • Implement positive discipline techniques and manage challenging behaviors in a calm and constructive manner.
    • Provide emotional support and guidance to children, helping them navigate social interactions and personal development.
  7. Transportation:
    • Safely transport children to and from school, extracurricular activities, and playdates as needed.
    • Ensure that the vehicle used for transportation is safe and well-maintained.

Tasks

  • Assume full responsibility for household in absence of parents
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
  • Shop for food and household supplies
  • Travel with family on trips and assist with child supervision and housekeeping duties
  • Wash, iron and press clothing and household linens
  • Bathe, dress and feed infants and children
  • Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents
  • Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development
  • Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding children
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Organize, activities such as games and outings for children
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals
  • Prepare infants and children for rest periods
  • Supervise and care for children
  • Take children to and from school and to appointments
  • Tend to emotional well-being of children
  • Help children with homework
  • Cook

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field is preferred. Prior experience in childcare or as a nanny is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to engage and entertain children, and a deep understanding of child development and behavior management.
  • Certifications: First aid and CPR certification required. Additional certifications in early childhood education or specialized care may be beneficial.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, carrying, and playing with children.
  • Comfort with standing, bending, and engaging in active play for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a private home, which may involve varying schedules and occasional overnight stays or travel, depending on the family’s needs.
  • The role may require flexibility with hours, including evenings and weekends.
