Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment:
- Conduct thorough evaluations to assess patients’ physical abilities and limitations.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and patient goals.
- Therapeutic Interventions:
- Implement treatment programs that may include manual therapy, exercise, and modalities such as ultrasound or electrical stimulation.
- Educate patients and their families about rehabilitation processes, exercises, and self-care techniques.
- Progress Monitoring:
- Regularly assess and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Patient Education:
- Provide guidance on injury prevention, ergonomic practices, and lifestyle modifications.
- Foster a supportive environment that encourages patient participation in their recovery.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Stay updated on best practices and advancements in physiotherapy through continuing education.
Tasks
- Carry out treatment programs, under the direction of physiotherapists and/or occupational therapists, to rehabilitate patients with various injuries or disabilities
- Follow through on treatment programs with patients
- Help physical therapists
- Position patients for treatments by chiropractor or machine
- Set up and dismantle equipment
- Clean and maintain equipment
- Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and instrumentation for re-use according to standardized safety practices
- Process claims such as health insurance or workers compensation
- Maintain supplies
- Connect treatment machines to patients, as directed by chiropractor
- Maintain inventory of equipment
- Perform general clerical duties
- Process files and paperwork
- Schedule and confirm appointments
- Manage routine office functions including reception, telephone and booking appointments
- Teach and/or supervise exercises to patients
- Order supplies and equipment
- Organize and maintain inventory
