Responsibilities:

  1. Driving and Delivery:
    • Safely operating heavy trucks, such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or dump trucks, to transport goods and materials.
    • Following predetermined routes or navigation instructions to deliver cargo to specified locations.
  2. Loading and Unloading:
    • Securing and unloading cargo using appropriate equipment or manual methods.
    • Inspecting cargo for damage, ensuring proper documentation, and reporting any discrepancies to dispatch.
  3. Route Planning and Navigation:
    • Planning delivery routes using GPS navigation systems, maps, or route planning software to optimize efficiency and minimize travel time.
    • Adhering to traffic laws, road regulations, and safety standards while driving and maneuvering heavy trucks.
  4. Vehicle Maintenance:
    • Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to ensure mechanical fitness and compliance with safety standards.
    • Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as checking oil levels, tire pressure, and fluid levels, and reporting any mechanical issues for repair.
  5. Documentation and Record-Keeping:
    • Maintaining accurate logs of working hours, vehicle inspections, fuel purchases, and mileage records as required by federal and state regulations.
    • Completing delivery paperwork, bills of lading, and other documentation for record-keeping and billing purposes.
  6. Communication and Customer Service:
    • Communicating effectively with dispatchers, customers, and warehouse personnel to coordinate pickup and delivery schedules.
    • Providing updates on delivery status, delays, or incidents to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  7. Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensuring compliance with federal and state transportation regulations, including hours of service regulations and vehicle weight limits.
    • Following company policies and procedures regarding safety protocols, including the use of seat belts, reflective gear, and secure cargo practices.
  8. Emergency Response:
    • Responding to emergency situations, such as accidents or vehicle breakdowns, by following established procedures and contacting emergency services or roadside assistance as necessary.
