Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transportation:
- Operate and drive a truck or other heavy vehicle to transport goods to designated locations.
- Plan routes and schedules to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
- Follow all traffic laws and regulations to ensure safe driving practices.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on the vehicle, including oil changes, tire checks, and brake inspections.
- Report any mechanical issues or damages to the Fleet Manager and arrange for necessary repairs.
- Keep the vehicle clean and organized.
- Load Management:
- Load and unload goods, ensuring they are properly secured and protected during transport.
- Verify the accuracy of cargo and ensure that it matches the shipping documents.
- Handle and manage freight and equipment with care to prevent damage.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and other legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of driving hours, mileage, and delivery logs.
- Customer Service:
- Provide courteous and professional service to clients and customers.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members.
- Address any issues or concerns that arise during deliveries.
- Administrative Duties:
- Complete and submit required paperwork, such as delivery receipts, inspection reports, and mileage logs.
- Keep track of fuel usage and manage fuel expenses.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or violations promptly.
Tasks
- Calculate fixed assets and depreciation
- Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
- Address customers’ complaints or concerns
- Professionalism in customer service
- Load and unload goods
- Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Pay and receive payments for goods
- Perform brake adjustments
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience as a truck driver preferred but not required.
- Skills:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle operation and maintenance.
- Excellent driving skills and a clean driving record.
- Ability to handle physical demands, including lifting and carrying.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Certifications:
- CDL license required.
- Additional certifications or training in hazardous materials or specialized cargo may be beneficial.
