Responsibilities:
- Preparation and Planning:
- Reviewing blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and placement of drywall panels.
- Measuring, cutting, and fitting drywall sheets to cover walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.
- Installation:
- Attaching drywall panels to wood or metal framing using screws, nails, or adhesive, ensuring panels are level and aligned.
- Cutting openings for windows, doors, and outlets as needed, using hand and power tools.
- Taping and Mudding:
- Applying joint compound (mud) to seams between drywall panels to create smooth, seamless surfaces.
- Embedding tape over joints and applying additional layers of mud to cover tape and smooth out imperfections.
- Sanding and Finishing:
- Sanding dried mud to achieve a smooth and even surface, using sanding tools and equipment.
- Applying texture or decorative finishes to drywall surfaces as per client or designer specifications.
- Repairs and Maintenance:
- Repairing damaged or cracked drywall, replacing sections as necessary, and matching textures and finishes.
- Inspecting completed work for quality and ensuring it meets building codes and standards.
- Cleanliness and Safety:
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area, disposing of debris and waste materials appropriately.
- Following safety guidelines and using personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent injuries.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Coordinating with other construction trades, such as electricians and plumbers, to ensure proper installation and integration of drywall.
- Communicating with supervisors, contractors, and clients regarding project progress, timelines, and any issues encountered.
Tasks

- Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
- Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts and electrical outlets
- Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools

Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience as a drywall installer or similar role is often required.
