Key Responsibilities:
- Hair Cutting and Styling:
- Cut, trim, and style men’s and boys’ hair according to client preferences, using scissors, clippers, and razors.
- Provide advice on haircuts and styles based on the client’s face shape, hair type, and personal style.
- Offer hair styling services such as blow-drying, straightening, or curling.
- Trim hairlines, sideburns, and facial hair to create defined, neat looks.
- Shaving and Beard Care:
- Shave or trim facial hair (beards, mustaches) using razors, clippers, and trimmers.
- Offer beard grooming and shaping services to maintain clean lines and a polished look.
- Provide hot towel shaves, which may include massaging the scalp or face with specialized oils for relaxation.
- Advise clients on beard and skin care products for daily maintenance.
- Client Consultation:
- Consult with clients to understand their preferences, lifestyle, and desired hairstyle.
- Suggest hairstyles or grooming techniques that suit the client’s hair type and face shape.
- Provide recommendations on hair care products, styling tools, and maintenance techniques for home use.
- Sanitation and Cleanliness:
- Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace, including tools, chairs, and surrounding areas.
- Sterilize tools such as razors, scissors, and clippers between clients to ensure hygiene.
- Ensure the barbershop is tidy and presentable at all times, including sweeping hair clippings and wiping down surfaces.
- Comply with health and safety regulations to maintain a safe environment for both clients and staff.
- Customer Service:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring a comfortable and friendly atmosphere.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and requests in a professional manner.
- Greet clients, check them in for appointments, and manage scheduling when necessary.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance to represent the barbershop’s image.
- Hair and Scalp Treatments:
- Offer scalp massages to improve circulation, reduce tension, and promote hair health.
- Provide hair treatments, such as conditioning treatments, or special services for clients with specific hair or scalp issues (e.g., dandruff, hair thinning).
- Advise clients on maintaining healthy hair through proper care and product use.
- Product Sales:
- Sell hair and beard care products, such as shampoos, conditioners, pomades, gels, razors, and oils.
- Recommend products tailored to the client’s hair type and needs.
- Maintain knowledge of the latest products, trends, and services to meet client demands.
- Record-Keeping:
- Keep records of client preferences, past services, and product purchases for future reference.
- Track appointments, payments, and other administrative duties, often using a booking system.
- Keeping Up with Trends:
- Stay current on the latest barbering trends, techniques, and tools by attending workshops, conferences, and practicing new styles.
- Incorporate modern and traditional barbering techniques to offer clients a range of styling options.
