Key Responsibilities:
- Child Care and Supervision:
- Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Provide care and support for children’s basic needs, including feeding, diapering, and dressing.
- Manage daily routines such as nap times, meal times, and outdoor activities.
- Developmental Activities:
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational and recreational activities to promote physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Encourage children’s social interactions, creativity, and problem-solving skills through various activities and games.
- Monitor and support children’s development, providing feedback and encouragement.
- Behavior Management:
- Implement positive behavior management techniques to guide and support children’s behavior.
- Address and resolve conflicts or behavioral issues in a constructive manner.
- Promote a positive and respectful atmosphere among children.
- Health and Safety:
- Ensure that the child care environment is clean, safe, and free from hazards.
- Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper hygiene practices and emergency procedures.
- Administer medication or first aid as needed, and keep accurate records of any incidents or health issues.
- Communication:
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents or guardians regarding their child’s activities, behavior, and development.
- Provide regular updates and reports on the child’s progress and any concerns.
- Foster a collaborative relationship with parents to support the child’s needs and goals.
- Record Keeping:
- Keep detailed records of daily activities, including meals, naps, and any special notes about the child’s well-being or development.
- Maintain documentation of any incidents, accidents, or health concerns.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other child care providers or staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive care environment.
- Participate in team meetings or training sessions to stay informed about best practices and updates in child care.
Tasks
- Assume full responsibility for household in absence of parents
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
- Travel with family on trips and assist with child supervision and housekeeping duties
- Bathe, dress and feed infants and children
- Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents
- Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development
- Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding children
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
- Organize, activities such as games and outings for children
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals
- Prepare infants and children for rest periods
- Supervise and care for children
- Take children to and from school and to appointments
- Tend to emotional well-being of children
- Help children with homework
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
- years of experience in child care or a similar role.
- Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate practices.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Experience with specific age groups or special needs.
- Familiarity with child care regulations and best practices.
Work Conditions:
- Work is performed in a child care environment, which may include indoor and outdoor settings.
- The role involves physical activity, including lifting children, bending, and playing.
- Flexibility to work varying hours, including mornings, afternoons, and possibly evenings or weekends, depending on the needs of the family or child care center.
