The Automotive Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. This role involves working on various automotive systems and components, interacting with customers, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

 Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Diagnostic and Repair Services:
    • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in vehicles using diagnostic tools and equipment.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
    • Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems such as engines, transmissions, and suspensions.
  2. Customer Interaction:
    • Communicate with customers to understand their vehicle issues and provide clear explanations of required repairs and maintenance.
    • Offer estimates for repair costs and timeframes, ensuring transparency and customer satisfaction.
    • Address customer concerns and provide recommendations for vehicle care and improvements.
  3. Preventive Maintenance:
    • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to prevent breakdowns and extend vehicle lifespan.
    • Inspect and adjust vehicle systems, including steering, suspension, and exhaust, to ensure proper functionality.
    • Keep detailed records of maintenance and repairs performed on each vehicle.
  4. Tool and Equipment Management:
    • Use and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
    • Ensure that tools and equipment are in good working condition and properly calibrated.
    • Follow safety protocols when using and storing tools and equipment.
  5. Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while working on vehicles.
    • Follow environmental regulations for the disposal of hazardous materials, such as oil and antifreeze.
    • Keep the work area clean and organized to ensure a safe working environment.
  6. Continuous Learning:
    • Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies, repair techniques, and industry best practices.
    • Attend training sessions or workshops as required to enhance skills and knowledge.
  7. Team Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with other mechanics, service advisors, and staff to ensure efficient operations.
    • Share knowledge and expertise with team members to support overall shop performance.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; formal training or certification in automotive technology or a related field is preferred.
  • years of experience as an automotive mechanic or in a similar role.
  • Certification from a recognized automotive organization (e.g., ASE) is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology or a related field.
  • Experience with specific vehicle makes or models.
  • Familiarity with electronic diagnostic systems and software.

Work Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an automotive repair shop or service facility, which may involve exposure to noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.
  • The role requires physical activity, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
