We are looking for a friendly and efficient Cafeteria Cashier to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling transactions, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring the smooth operation of the cafeteria’s cashier station. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

 Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Transactions: Accurately handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions using the cashier register. Ensure all transactions are processed efficiently and accurately.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by greeting patrons, answering questions about menu items, and addressing any concerns or special requests.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the cashier station and surrounding area clean and organized. Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a sanitary environment.
  • Handle Cash and Change: Accurately count and handle cash and make change as needed. Reconcile cash drawer at the end of each shift and report any discrepancies.
  • Assist with Food Service: Help with the distribution of food items, restocking supplies, and maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the serving area.
  • Monitor Inventory: Keep track of inventory levels for cashier supplies, such as receipt rolls and bags. Report any shortages or issues to the supervisor.
  • Follow Procedures: Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to cash handling, security, and customer service.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: Basic education or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous Experience: Experience in a cashier or customer service role is preferred but not required.
  • Basic Math Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations and handle cash accurately.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to interact positively with customers and team members.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in processing transactions and handling cash.
  • Customer-Focused: Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and handle inquiries professionally.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with POS Systems: Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash registers.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry items up to [weight] pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Environment: Work in a busy cafeteria setting with occasional noise and fluctuating temperatures.
