The Food Counter Attendant is responsible for providing excellent customer service at food service counters. This role involves taking customer orders, preparing and serving food, handling transactions, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Service:
    • Greet customers warmly and assist them with their food and beverage selections.
    • Take accurate orders and provide information about menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods.
    • Address customer questions, concerns, and special requests, ensuring a positive dining experience.
  2. Food Preparation:
    • Prepare and assemble food items according to standard recipes and customer specifications.
    • Operate food preparation equipment, such as grills, fryers, and coffee machines.
    • Maintain food quality and presentation, ensuring items are served at the proper temperature.
  3. Order Fulfillment:
    • Process customer orders and transactions accurately, including handling cash and operating the point-of-sale (POS) system.
    • Ensure timely and efficient service, including packaging and delivering orders to customers.
  4. Cleanliness and Organization:
    • Maintain a clean and organized food counter and preparation area, including washing utensils and equipment.
    • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a hygienic environment.
    • Restock supplies and ingredients as needed, and report inventory shortages to the supervisor.
  5. Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage practices.
    • Follow company policies and procedures related to customer service and food safety.
  6. Team Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with other food service staff to ensure smooth operations and efficient service.
    • Assist with training new employees and provide support as needed.
  7. Customer Feedback:
    • Collect and address customer feedback to improve service and resolve any issues.
    • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor at all times.

  • Keep records of the quantities of food used
  • Package take-out food
  • Portion and wrap foods
  • Prepare, heat and finish simple food items
  • Serve customers at counters or buffet tables
  • Stock refrigerators and salad bars
  • Take customers’ orders
  • Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a food service or customer service role is a plus, but not always required.
  • Skills:

    • Basic math skills for handling transactions and making change.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining food safety and cleanliness.
