As a Food Service Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of our food service establishment, ensuring high-quality food preparation, excellent customer service, and adherence to safety and hygiene standards. You will lead a team of food service workers, coordinate workflow, and maintain a positive dining experience for customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the activities of food service staff, including scheduling shifts, assigning tasks, and providing training and guidance to ensure efficient operation.
  2. Food Preparation and Service: Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality. Assist with food preparation during peak times and oversee food service stations.
  3. Customer Service Excellence: Ensure exceptional customer service by greeting customers, addressing inquiries or complaints, and resolving issues promptly and courteously. Foster a customer-focused culture among staff.
  4. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of food, supplies, and ingredients. Place orders for replenishment as needed and ensure proper storage and rotation of perishable items.
  5. Safety and Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations. Monitor food handling practices and kitchen cleanliness to prevent foodborne illnesses and ensure a safe working environment.
  6. Financial Oversight: Monitor sales and expenses to ensure profitability and cost-control measures. Manage cash handling procedures, including reconciling daily sales and preparing deposits.
  7. Training and Development: Train new employees on food preparation techniques, customer service standards, and safety procedures. Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to staff members.

  • Establish methods to meet work schedules
  • Supervise and co-ordinate activities of staff who prepare and portion food
  • Train staff in job duties, sanitation and safety procedures
  • Estimate ingredient and supplies required for meal preparation
  • Ensure that food and service meet quality control standards
  • Prepare budget and cost estimates
  • Address customers’ complaints or concerns
  • Maintain records of stock, repairs, sales and wastage
  • Prepare and submit reports
  • Prepare food order summaries for chef
  • Supervise and check assembly of trays
  • Supervise and check delivery of food trolleys
  • Establish work schedules

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a food service supervisory role, preferably in a restaurant, cafeteria, or similar setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle customer complaints and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory management and reporting purposes.
