A Front Desk Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing transactions accurately, and ensuring a positive experience for guests or customers at the front desk of a hotel, retail store, or similar establishment. They handle payments, answer inquiries, and assist with guest or customer needs promptly and professionally.

Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Service:
    • Greeting guests or customers in a friendly and welcoming manner upon arrival.
    • Providing information about products, services, or amenities offered by the establishment.
  2. Transaction Processing:
    • Processing cash, credit card, and debit card transactions accurately and efficiently.
    • Verifying and balancing cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts.
  3. Reservation and Booking Management:
    • Assisting guests with reservations, bookings, cancellations, and modifications.
    • Providing information about room availability, rates, and package deals (if applicable).
  4. Information and Inquiry Handling:
    • Responding to phone calls, emails, and inquiries from guests or customers regarding services, amenities, and policies.
    • Directing inquiries to the appropriate department or staff member for further assistance.
  5. Check-In and Check-Out Procedures:
    • Processing check-ins and check-outs efficiently, verifying guest or customer information and payment details.
    • Issuing room keys, access cards, or receipts as needed.
  6. Customer Relations:
    • Resolving guest or customer complaints or concerns promptly and escalating issues to management when necessary.
    • Maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor during interactions with guests or customers.
  7. Administrative Support:
    • Performing administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and preparing reports.
    • Assisting with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
  8. Security and Safety Compliance:
    • Adhering to security procedures and protocols to protect guests, customers, and the establishment’s assets.
    • Maintaining confidentiality of guest information and ensuring compliance with privacy policies.

Tasks

  • Operate cash register
  • Process money, cheques and credit/debit card payments
  • Scan items
  • Receive payment for goods or services
  • Calculate daily/shift payments received and reconcile with total sales
  • Stock shelves and clean counter area
  • Greet customers
  • Monitor all entrances and exits, request proof of payment when necessary
  • Participate in promotional activities
