Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: Assist clients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding, while ensuring dignity and comfort.
- Mobility Support: Help clients with mobility, including transfers, positioning, and walking assistance, to enhance their independence and safety.
- Health Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in clients’ physical or emotional condition to healthcare professionals or family members.
- Medication Assistance: Assist clients in managing their medications as directed by healthcare professionals and ensure proper adherence.
- Household Support: Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as cleaning and laundry, to maintain a safe and healthy living environment for clients.
- Emotional Support: Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive and encouraging environment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of care provided, client progress, and any significant observations during each visit.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
Tasks
- Serve meal trays and feed patients
- Weigh, lift, turn and position patients
- Make beds and maintain patients’ rooms
- Administer suppositories, colonic irrigations and enemas
- Bathe, dress and groom patients
- Transport patients between care facilities
- Answer call signals to determine patients’ needs
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certifications in health care or social services are preferred.
- Previous experience as a health care aide or in a similar role is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations in a care setting.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- CPR and First Aid certification is an asset.
