Key Responsibilities:

  1. Child Care and Supervision:
    • Monitor and supervise children’s activities, ensuring their safety at all times.
    • Assist with daily routines such as dressing, bathing, feeding, and diapering (if applicable).
    • Provide age-appropriate activities, games, and creative play to stimulate learning and development.
    • Help with nap time and ensure children have adequate rest.
  2. Meal Preparation:
    • Prepare nutritious meals and snacks based on the family’s preferences and dietary needs.
    • Encourage healthy eating habits and maintain clean eating areas.
  3. Educational Support:
    • Assist with schoolwork or tutoring, particularly for older children.
    • Encourage learning through play, books, and educational games.
    • Take children to educational or recreational activities, such as parks, museums, and libraries.
  4. Household Duties (related to children):
    • Perform light housekeeping tasks related to the children, such as cleaning up toys, making beds, and doing children’s laundry.
    • Organize and maintain the children’s play and living spaces.
  5. Transport and Errands:
    • Drive children to and from school, appointments, extracurricular activities, or playdates.
    • Run errands related to the children (e.g., picking up groceries, going to the pharmacy).
  6. Discipline and Behavior Management:
    • Implement agreed-upon discipline strategies in a calm and consistent manner.
    • Foster positive behavior and teach important life skills, like sharing and respect.
  7. Health and Wellness:
    • Monitor the health of the children, including administering medication (if needed) and keeping track of doctor’s appointments.
    • Manage any special needs or allergies the children may have, ensuring that the child’s health and safety are prioritized.
  8. Communication with Parents:
    • Provide regular updates to parents about the children’s activities, progress, and any concerns.
    • Collaborate with parents on setting routines, goals, and disciplinary methods.
  9. Flexibility:
    • Adapt to varying schedules, which may include weekend or evening hours, depending on the family’s needs.

Tasks

  • Sterilize bottles and prepare formulas
  • Assume full responsibility for household in absence of parents
  • Travel with family on trips and assist with child supervision and housekeeping duties
  • Bathe, dress and feed infants and children
  • Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents
  • Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding children
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals
  • Supervise and care for children
  • Tend to emotional well-being of children

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in child care, education, or a related field.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (often required).
  • A nurturing, patient, and responsible demeanor.
  • Ability to multitask and manage various responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, especially when working closely with parents.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the family, including schedule changes.

Preferred Skills:

  • Early childhood education or related coursework.
  • Special training in child development, first aid, or behavioral management.
  • Driver’s license and a clean driving record, if transportation duties are required.

Work Environment:
