Key Responsibilities:

• Transporting Goods:
  • Safely operate a commercial truck to transport freight between locations.
  • Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring secure handling of materials.
• Vehicle Maintenance:
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on the truck as needed.
  • Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and hours of service.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, such as bills of lading and delivery receipts.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding transportation.
• Customer Service:
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other drivers to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues.
  • Provide excellent customer service by representing the company professionally and courteously.
• Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while operating the vehicle.
  • Ensure the cargo is loaded and secured according to safety standards.
  • Stay updated on road conditions and traffic laws to promote safety during transport.

Tasks

• Load and unload goods
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
• Perform brake adjustments
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required.
  • Previous experience as a truck driver is preferred but not always required, depending on the position.

  • Strong driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws.
  • Ability to navigate using GPS and maps.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds or more).
  • Capability to sit for long periods and operate a vehicle.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo.

Work Environment:

• Truck drivers may work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The job may require overnight stays away from home, depending on the delivery routes.
