Key Responsibilities:
- Transporting Goods:
- Safely operate a commercial truck to transport freight between locations.
- Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries.
- Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring secure handling of materials.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on the truck as needed.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and hours of service.
- Complete necessary paperwork, such as bills of lading and delivery receipts.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding transportation.
- Customer Service:
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other drivers to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues.
- Provide excellent customer service by representing the company professionally and courteously.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while operating the vehicle.
- Ensure the cargo is loaded and secured according to safety standards.
- Stay updated on road conditions and traffic laws to promote safety during transport.
Tasks
- Load and unload goods
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Perform brake adjustments
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required.
- Previous experience as a truck driver is preferred but not always required, depending on the position.

- Strong driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws.
- Ability to navigate using GPS and maps.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds or more).
- Capability to sit for long periods and operate a vehicle.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo.
Work Environment:
- Truck drivers may work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The job may require overnight stays away from home, depending on the delivery routes.
