Key Responsibilities:
- Welding Operations:
- Perform welding operations using methods such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and flux-cored welding.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
- Set up and operate welding equipment and tools to create strong and precise welds.
- Material Preparation:
- Prepare metal surfaces by cutting, grinding, or cleaning as needed to ensure proper adhesion.
- Select appropriate materials and welding techniques based on the project requirements and specifications.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect completed welds for quality and adherence to specifications, using measuring tools and visual inspection.
- Conduct tests on welded joints, such as pressure tests, to ensure strength and durability.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, materials used, and inspections completed.
- Maintenance and Safety:
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition, performing regular inspections and basic repairs as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with other welders, fabricators, and construction workers to complete projects on time and within specifications.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project status and any issues that arise.
Tasks
- Interpret welding process specifications
- Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment
- Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes
- Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
- Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines
- Determine weldability of materials
- Operate hoisting and lifting equipment
- Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products
- Operate previously set-up brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or to fill holes, indentations and seams of metal
- Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing and soldering equipment

Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or welding certification preferred.
- Previous experience in welding or a related field is highly desirable.
- Skills:

- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot welding issues.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Capability to work in various positions (standing, kneeling, bending) for extended periods.
- Good vision and hand-eye coordination to ensure accuracy in welding tasks.
