The Housekeeping Room Attendant is responsible for ensuring guest rooms and assigned areas are cleaned and maintained to high standards. This role involves performing various cleaning tasks, ensuring rooms are prepared for new guests, and providing excellent service to enhance the guest experience.

 Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Room Cleaning:
    • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, including dusting, vacuuming, and mopping floors.
    • Make beds, change linens, and replace used towels and toiletries.
    • Clean and disinfect all surfaces, including furniture, fixtures, and electronics.
  2. Bathroom Maintenance:
    • Thoroughly clean and disinfect bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, showers, and mirrors.
    • Ensure that bathroom amenities, such as soap and shampoo, are replenished and that all fixtures are in good working condition.
  3. Room Preparation:
    • Ensure rooms are stocked with necessary supplies, such as linens, toiletries, and cleaning products.
    • Report any maintenance issues or room damages to the supervisor or maintenance team.
  4. Public Area Cleaning:
    • Clean and maintain public areas, such as hallways, lobbies, and staircases, ensuring they are free of debris and visually appealing.
  5. Inventory Management:
    • Keep track of cleaning supplies and report shortages or needs to the supervisor.
    • Maintain an organized supply cart and ensure it is stocked and prepared for daily tasks.
  6. Guest Interaction:
    • Provide courteous and professional service to guests, addressing any special requests or concerns promptly.
    • Handle guest belongings with care and respect their privacy.
  7. Health and Safety:
    • Follow all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Adhere to infection control practices and report any safety hazards immediately.
  8. Team Collaboration:
    • Work effectively with other housekeeping staff and departments to ensure a smooth workflow and guest satisfaction.
    • Assist in training new staff members as needed.

Tasks

  • Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
  • Dust furniture
  • Vacuum carpeting, area rugs, draperies and upholstered furniture
  • Make beds and change sheets
  • Distribute clean towels and toiletries
  • Stock linen closet
  • Attend to guests’ requests for extra supplies or other items
  • Pick up debris and empty trash containers

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a housekeeping or cleaning role is advantageous but not always required.

    • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
    • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with guests and team members.
    • Basic knowledge of cleaning products and their safe use.
  • Certifications: No specific certifications are required; on-the-job training is typically provided.

Working Conditions:

  • The role involves working in a hotel or similar establishment, which may include exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures.
  • May require shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the needs of the facility.
  • Physical demands include lifting heavy items, performing repetitive tasks, and maintaining high energy levels throughout the shift.
