Key Responsibilities:

  • Feeding Poultry: Ensure that poultry are fed properly according to their nutritional needs. This may involve mixing feed, filling feeders, and ensuring that all birds have access to food and clean water.
  • Cleaning and Maintaining the Farm: Regularly clean poultry coops, pens, and other areas of the farm. This includes removing waste, changing bedding, and maintaining cleanliness to ensure a hygienic environment for the birds.
  • Egg Collection: Collect eggs from poultry, ensuring that they are clean and stored properly to prevent damage. This may also include washing eggs for packaging and sale.
  • Health Monitoring: Observe the health and well-being of the birds. Identify signs of illness or injury, and report concerns to farm managers or veterinarians. Administer basic treatments or medications as directed.
  • Farm Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and repair farm equipment such as feeders, water systems, heating systems, and egg collection machines to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Poultry Movement: Help with moving birds between different areas of the farm, such as from hatcheries to growing pens or from growing pens to processing areas.
  • Processing Support: Assist with the processing of poultry, including preparing birds for sale. This may involve packaging, weighing, and storing poultry products.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of feed usage, egg production, bird health, and other farm activities. This helps track productivity and ensures compliance with regulations.
  • General Farm Maintenance: Perform other manual labor tasks around the farm, such as repairing fences, maintaining farm infrastructure, or assisting with the upkeep of the farm’s grounds.

  • Animal Care Knowledge: Basic understanding of poultry farming and animal husbandry. Familiarity with poultry feeding, health care, and management practices is helpful.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work as part of a team on a busy farm, often under tight timelines or during peak production periods.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address unexpected issues, such as equipment failures, poultry health concerns, or environmental challenges.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to follow instructions from farm managers or supervisors and communicate any concerns or observations about the birds or farm operations.
  • Farm Equipment Use: Familiarity with farm machinery such as tractors, forklifts, and automated feeding systems may be required or encouraged.
