Responsibilities:
- Schedule and dispatch trucks according to customer requests and operational requirements.
- Coordinate with drivers to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of shipments.
- Monitor truck locations and statuses using GPS and other tracking systems.
- Communicate with customers to provide shipment updates and resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatching activities, including driver logs and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., logistics, operations) to optimize transportation efficiency.
- Handle driver inquiries and emergencies professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain communication with drivers throughout their routes to provide support and updates as needed.
- Evaluate and adjust routes and schedules based on changing priorities and logistics.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a truck dispatcher or in a similar role within the transportation industry.
- Strong knowledge of trucking regulations and compliance standards.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work well under pressure and make quick decisions.
- Proficiency with dispatch software and GPS tracking systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in logistics is a plus.
