Responsibilities:

  1. Greeting and Seating Customers: Welcoming guests as they arrive, escorting them to their tables, and presenting menus.
  2. Taking Orders: Listening to customers’ preferences, answering questions about menu items, and taking accurate orders.
  3. Serving Food and Beverages: Delivering orders promptly to tables, ensuring accuracy and presentation standards.
  4. Upselling and Recommending: Suggesting additional menu items, specials, or beverages based on customers’ preferences.
  5. Handling Payments: Presenting bills, processing payments, and handling cash or credit transactions accurately.
  6. Table Maintenance: Checking on tables regularly to ensure they are clean and set for the next guests.
  7. Customer Interaction: Anticipating customer needs, responding to requests promptly, and addressing any concerns or complaints professionally.
  8. Collaboration: Coordinating with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders.
  9. Compliance: Adhering to food safety and hygiene standards, as well as restaurant policies and procedures.

Tasks

  • Must be of legal age to mix and serve alcoholic beverages
  • Address customers’ complaints or concerns
  • Prepare and serve specialty food at customers’ tables
  • Describe menu items including daily specials for customers
  • Enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations
  • Advise on menu selections
  • Balance cash and record sales
  • Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs
  • Greet patrons, present menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding food and beverages
  • Serve food and beverages
  • Take orders and relay to kitchen and bar staff
  • Assist clients/guests with special needs
