Responsibilities:
- Driving and Delivery:
- Safely operating and maneuvering commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or delivery vans.
- Transporting goods and materials from distribution centers, warehouses, or manufacturing facilities to designated delivery locations.
- Loading and Unloading:
- Loading and unloading cargo using appropriate equipment or manual methods, ensuring secure placement and adherence to weight distribution guidelines.
- Inspecting cargo for damage, ensuring proper documentation, and reporting any discrepancies to dispatch or supervisors.
- Route Planning and Navigation:
- Planning delivery routes using GPS navigation systems or maps to optimize efficiency and minimize travel time.
- Adhering to traffic laws, road regulations, and safety standards while driving and parking vehicles.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and associated equipment to ensure roadworthiness.
- Performing routine maintenance tasks such as checking oil levels, tire pressure, and fluid levels, and reporting any mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintaining accurate logs of working hours, vehicle inspections, fuel purchases, and mileage records.
- Completing delivery paperwork, bills of lading, and other required documentation for record-keeping and billing purposes.
- Communication:
- Communicating effectively with dispatchers, customers, and warehouse personnel to coordinate pickup and delivery schedules.
- Providing updates on delivery status, delays, or incidents to ensure timely and efficient transportation services.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensuring compliance with federal and state transportation regulations, including hours of service regulations and vehicle weight limits.
- Following company policies and procedures regarding safety protocols, including the use of seat belts, reflective gear, and secure cargo practices.
- Customer Service:
- Interacting professionally with customers during pickups and deliveries, addressing inquiries, and maintaining a positive company image.
- Resolving delivery issues or concerns promptly and escalating complex issues to appropriate personnel.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL): Valid CDL appropriate for the type of truck being operated (e.g., Class A, B, or C).
- Driving Experience: Proven experience as a truck driver, with knowledge of trucking regulations and safe driving practices.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items and endure long hours of driving and sitting.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in inspecting vehicles and cargo, completing paperwork accurately, and following delivery instructions.
- Problem-Solving: Skill in troubleshooting minor vehicle issues and adapting to changing road and weather conditions.
- Communication Skills: Clear verbal and written communication skills to interact with colleagues, customers, and dispatchers effectively.
- Time Management: Capacity to manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and maintain schedules in a dynamic transportation environment.

- Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations
- Load and unload goods
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Perform brake adjustments
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Transport and handle dangerous goods
